The accession consists of 30 color 4x6 inch photographic prints of the presentation of the U.S. Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award to Dr. Robert E. Stevenson, scientific liaison officer for the Office of Naval Research at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, on January 10, 1985. The photographs were taken by Norman Sattler. The photographs include images of Dr. Robert E. Stevenson and presentors Rear Admiral Brad Mooney, Dr. Paul Scully-Power and Robert L. Crippen. Group photographs include images of John L. Kaltenbach, Dr. Eugene C. LaFond, and Rear Admiral Jack Langille. The presentation was made during a half day scientific symposium on space oceanography held at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
